What we do

BOOST YOGA OFFERS INCLUSIVE, MINDFUL YOGA SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS TO UNDER 18s.

OUR AIM IS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY AND CONSISTENT PRACTICES THAT SUPPORT EMOTIONAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL UNDERSTANDING AND DEVELOPMENT.

In today's society, poor mental health poses a great threat to our children and young adults.

Here at Boost we deliver yoga sessions that address this and provide a safe space in which young people can learn to self regulate, manage stress and explore and connect with their thoughts and feelings.

We believe that the physical practice of yoga is only half of the whole, so by merging yogic philosophy, psychology and physiology, we bring together many elements of yoga that really educate and empower young people and embed lifelong practices that can help to manage anxiety, anger and stress.

Research shows that students regularly practicing yoga and mindfulness are better able to emotionally regulate and create space between impulse and reactivity.

The Science

1 in 6 children aged 5 - 16 were identified as having a probable mental health problem in 2020, this has undoubtedly worsened since facing the isolation and tragedy of the covid pandemic.

Good Childhood Report 2022 shows that children's happiness continues to decline.

Now, five children in a classroom of 30 are likely to have a mental health problem.

Children experiencing poor mental health, trauma or poverty are often unable to process information in a rational and considered way as their amygdala, responsible for fight/flight/freeze/fawn response, is working in overdrive.

In fact, the prefrontal cortex, responsible for rational and logical decision based thought, does not fully develop until the age of 25, so even the safest and happiest of children will naturally be impulsive and reactive throughout childhood and their teens.

By practicing yoga, mindfulness and working with the breath we can create space between impulse and reactivity.

At Boost Yoga we embed a culture of kindness, community and peace. It is a safe space for children and young people to learn, quieten the mind, self regulate and gain real world knowledge all whilst developing lifelong coping strategies.
